Liron Lavi Turkenich designs multilingual scripts for international companies and specializes in Hebrew and Amharic (Ethiopian). She developed Aravrit, a new writing system that combines Hebrew and Arabic. At the „TED Talk“ in Vienna in 2018, she had the opportunity to show her knowledge to a wide audience.
Like all other scriptures, the Hebrew script does not exist in a detached way. The lecture shows what happens when Hebrew is interwoven with other scripts. Mutual influences are an essential part of typography and font design. Letters influence each other and influence places where they appear. Places in turn, influence letters. These topics are discussed: Aravrit, an experimental project that combines Hebrew and Arabic and a multilingual script designed for Hebrew, Latin and Amharic (Ethiopian).
