Gaga is the movement research developed by dancer Ohad Naharin over many years. It arose out of his need to communicate with his dancers and his strong curiosity in the field of movement research.
In Gaga, listening to one’s own body and its sensations is in the foreground. One’s own perception is sensitized and intensified by the instructions given by the leader. One inspiration follows the next – creating a multi-sensory dance experience. Unlike in traditional dance classes, where movements are given and copied accordingly, the participant interprets the inspiration given by the conductor. Gaga has a positive effect on the body, the condition and especially on the fun of the dance.
In 2005, Hillel Kogan – dancer, dramaturge and teacher – was invited by the choreographer and inventor of Gaga, Ohad Naharin, to work as his assistant. Hillel Kogan has worked for the “National Ballet of Portugal”, the “Muza Dance Company” in Sweden, the “Shades of Dance Festival” at the Suzanne Dellal Center in Tel Aviv (Neve Tzedek) and many more. Since 2009 he is also a member of the “Israeli Choreographer’s Association.”
